My First Thanksgiving

Today was my very first Thanksgiving.  Like most things in my little life, I didn't know what that was, but I sorta figured it out on my own.  First, this is what I learned.  On the day before Thanksgiving, Mommy spends almost the whole day cleaning house and then working in the kitchen.  I discovered, it was my job, when she was in the kitchen, to stand as close to her as possible, in case she dropped something.  She sure made the kitchen smell really good, but I was really disappointed because the only thing she dropped was this green stuff that didn't taste too good - when she took it out of my mouth she told me was was parsley.  I learned that parsley is yucky!

When daddy got home, I also learned that he should not be in the kitchen because he kept trying to steal whatever it was that she was cooking and she kept slapping him and telling him to get out.  Glad I wasn't the only one being told that cause the both said it to me A LOT!

Right before bedtime, mommy took this big white thing and put it in a bag - I heard daddy call it a turkey. He did take a picture of it first, but I don't know why, but here is the picture.  She then put it into this big black box thing, pushed a few buttons and walked away.  Then we went to bed.

In the morning, the whole house smelled so good I couldn't stand it.  I just knew I was really hungry and I didn't know why.  I ate some of my puppy chow, but that just didn't taste like what I was smelling so I wasn't too interested in my puppy chow today.

Later, I met a brand new friend.  Her name is Annie (or as my Sissie calls her Annie Pannie Boomalanie).  That's a funny name, don't you think?  I really liked her. She brought me a treat, which I thought was really nice, even though I didn't get to say thank you - so thank you Annie Pannie.  It was two bones - one that said Naughty and one that said Nice - I think I will eat the Nice one because I don't think I'm ever Naughty.

Mommy, of course, dressed me in a party dress - it was red and black velvet with a beautiful black bow. She tried to put a bow in my hair, but I just kept shaking it out (ha ha).  Thankfully she gave up after a while because I really didn't want to wear the bow.  I was okay with the dress, because I thought it was really pretty.

The most exciting part of the day though, was when Megan and Taylor came over.  I was so happy to see them.  They didn't bring Toby or Mysti, so I was a little sad, but it was nice to be able to play with them on the floor and run all over their faces! At dinner I heard everyone go around the table and say what they were all thankful for and on top of everything else, Mommy said me.

I may not understand a lot of these new holidays, but Thanksgiving I think I do understand (although I'm still not sure about that whole turkey thing daddy took a picture of).  I think it's just a time when everyone gets together and says how happy they are and what they are thankful for, so this is what I am thankful for.  I am thankful I have a wonderful family who loves me and takes care of me and plays with me when I am bored.  I am thankful that when I have an accident and miss my wee wee pads, no one gets really angry with me (because I am really still trying to hit the right spot).  I am thankful that I have met so many new friends and that I have a warm safe place to be.  I think I like this holiday and hope it comes again soon - although I am not thankful for that very loud noisy thing that mommy and daddy use to push across the carpet.  That thing scares me and they could get rid of that tomorrow and I would be really happy.

Daddy did have one final picture I found today and thought I would share with you.  Remember that turkey thing I was telling you about before that daddy took a picture of.  Well here is what is left of it.  I don't know what it was, but it sure doesn't look the same as it did.  I hope it's okay, where ever it went.

Til next time, Happy Thanksgiving and I hope you all have wonderful families too that you can snuggle and cuddle with tonight because now I am tired and am going to crawl up on mommy's chest and go to sleep.  Night night - Maizie.

Get Better Mommy!

I'm so glad to have a Mommy who loves me and takes care of me, so when she got sick, I knew it was my turn to make her feel better too.  Ever since that Halloween thing, she has really been feeling bad.  She coughs a lot (I know what this is, cause I sometimes cough too).  When I cough, she picks me up and pats my back and makes sure I didn't swallow anything I wasn't supposed to.  Then she pets me and gives me something to drink and I feel much better.

I can't do that for her, because she's bigger than me, but I when she starts to cough, I like to climb up on her lap and sit on her until she quits.  I also like to get tissues for her.  If I can get a hold of the box, I will grab a tissue for her, and shred it up for her so it's easier for her to blow her nose in - at least I think it is, because those tissues can be pretty big.  I will admit, I do make her chase me down for it.  I'm pretty sure this makes her feel better because she gets lots of color in her cheeks when she's chasing me.  Plus, if I get her tissue, I always get a cookie to give it up, so she must really appreciate all of my help.

Today, she got this thing dropped off that made a lot of noise.  I don't know what it was, but she was very happy when it came in that she almost hugged the man who dropped it off.  I tried to help her set it up - I kept holding the mouth piece thing for her, but she didn't seem to need my help.  I didn't like the noise much, but she did feel better afterwards.  We even got to take a nap on the couch when she was done.  I think she felt better when she woke up because she hardly coughed at all.

I hope she feels better soon.  I hate to see my Mommy sick.  She doesn't want to play with me as much and I really need someone to play with.  Maybe Daddy will play with me now, because I'm really kind of bored.

WHO DAT?

Today was a very exciting day for me.  Today, I got to watch my very first Saint's game on the T.V.  Last week, Mommy was really happy because some new clothes she ordered for me came in, and one of the outfits was a cheerleader dress for the Saints.  As soon as she got it, she put me in it and, I'll have to admit, I was really cute.  I wore it most of the day, but the reason she left me in it was so I could show Daddy when he got home.  Mommy thought he would really like it - and he did.  After dinner, he took me upstairs and started taking my picture.  I am really getting good at having my picture taken (and I really kind of like it).  He thought I was so cute, he posted my pictures on Facebook.

Mommy also got me a shirt that matched Daddy's shirt, so today we both got to wear a shirt with the number 9 on it.  I noticed, when the game was on, there was a guy on the grass with the same shirt as me and Daddy.  He had a ball (like one of my toys) that he kept throwing to everyone.  I thought it was cool that he was wearing the same shirt as me and Daddy.  I think maybe we should start a club or something.  I wonder if anyone else has a shirt like ours.

Anyway, I think it was a good game.  I don't know because I got really tired and fell asleep as soon as it started.  I think I slept through most of it.  When I woke up, Daddy started yelling at the T.V.  I don't know why he was doing that, but he must have been having fun because he kept clapping.  He also kept saying "good boys" so they must have been doing good tricks, because he tells me "good girl" when I sit, or lie down, or go potty on my potty pad.  Maybe they were potting on their potty pads... I just don't know.

I stayed awake for the rest of the game, and watched a little and then they won.  I don't know if I understand what they were doing, they looked like they were just doing a lot of running around to me and that guy in our shirt just kept throwing the ball.  They don't play fetch very well though, because no one ever brought it back to him, but somehow he got it back and threw it again.  It was weird, but Daddy says we get to watch them again on Thursday, so I'll pay more attention.  Maybe I'll figure it out a little more (unless I get sleepy again).

Kasey and Me

This weekend, I was very busy.  First, on Saturday, Mommy took me to the vet.  Mommy was very happy because I have gained almost a full pound.  On Saturday I weighed 2.6 lbs. Mommy says I am getting to be a big girl.  I don't feel so big, but I do notice my sweaters are fitting a little better now.

This is me with Kasey and Miss Ginny
On Sunday, I made a whole bunch of new friends.  I had my very first, official, play date with a Kasey Ireland.  Kasey is a Cockapoo and lives with her mommy, Ginny, her daddy, Greg and her "brother", Josh and her new baby "sister" Emily. They have the biggestest yard I have EVER seen.  Oh my gosh.  Kasey and I got to run and run and run all over the place.  Her yard went on forever.  Kasey was really nice to me and lots of fun to play with.  She let me jump all over her and chase her.  Then she would chase me back and sometimes she would run into me and I would roll over and over.  It was so much fun.  Mommy and Miss Ginny thought we were really funny.
This is us again.
We were REALLY tired after our play date

I got to play with Josh too and he was a lot of fun also.  He let me chase him and when I did he would laugh really hard.  I can't remember the last time I had so much fun.  I hope I get to go back again soon, or I hope Kasey gets to come over to my house.  We don't have such a big yard to play in, so I don't know if she would like it as much, but I do have lots of toys for her to play with, so maybe that would make her happy.

Thanks Kasey, for the wonderful day.  I can't wait to do it again.

What's a Wood Berry?

Yesterday Mommy was really sick, so she didn't go to work.  Instead she stayed on this big cushy bed thing in the room with the big box with lots of people on it (I heard Daddy call it a TV).  I did my best to make her feel better by making her pick me up and put me on that big cushy thing (I think she called it a couch), and then make her put me back down again, and then pick me up and put me back down.  I did this a lot, so I know she must have been feeling lots better.  When I wasn't wanting her to put me down again, I thought I would make her feel better by jumping on her face and then chewing on her hands..  I don't know why, but sometimes she would put me down on the floor before I wanted her too, so I would just bark at her until she picked me up again.  I wanted to do whatever I could to make her all better.

When Daddy came home she decided to go to bed, but before she did, she scooped me up and tried this pretty yellow and blue dress on me.  Like most things it was way to big on me, but then she started putting things in it to make it fit better.  I thought it was pretty until she tried to put it on me, then it wasn't nearly so pretty anymore.  Thankfully it was only on me for a few minutes before she went off to bed.

This morning, she got me up and she was wearing the same dress she tried to put on me last night (only in her size).  I wasn't sure what was going on, but something told me I wasn't going to be too happy.  Boy was I right.  First, she put the dress on me from the night before, then she put a white jacket on over the top.  She kept saying it would keep me warm.  I didn't care, I just wanted to be out of all of it.  Then she grabbed a white coat for herself and I noticed we looked exactly the same.

When we got to work, everyone who saw us thought we were really cute.  Mommy kept saying I was her twin for twin day.  I didn't know what that meant, at all.  She did take me to class with her, which was fun, and everyone thought I looked really pretty, so I guess that was a good thing.  During class they were talking about something called wood berry and spirit week.  I didn't know what any of that meant, but I did hear Mommy say that's why we were dressed as twins.  I saw some other students dressed up together too, so I guess it was okay, but I'm still confused about what wood berry is and why it is so special.  I mean, I know what wood is because I got in trouble for eating a piece of it the other day.  I found it outside and it was really fun to chew on but it made a big mess in Mommy's office and so she took it away from me.  What I don't know is what a berry is and why you have to have a twin for a piece of wood or a berry?  I do know what a banana is, because I have that every morning.  Maybe a berry is like that.  If it is, then it would make sense why everyone is so excited.  Wood and banana's are great things, so maybe wood and berry's are too.  They must be if they have a whole week to celebrate them!  I just hope tomorrow I don't have to dress up again.

If someone out there knows what a wood berry is, maybe you can tell me.  If not, maybe I'll start my own week and call it wood banana.  I don't think I'll dress up though.  I like me just the way I am.

This is Halloween, This is Halloween

Yesterday was my first Halloween.  If anyone had told me beforehand what Halloween was, I would never have believed them.  First, Mommy dragged me out of bed at 5:00 in the morning, took me downstairs for my morning... well, let's just say... wee wee, then put me in my carry purse so we could go to work.  As soon as we got there, she got me out of the car so I could walk to the door that scares me because I always think it's going to close on me.  We got inside to take the elevator (which I love), then got into Mommy's office and what did she do to me????  Put another dress on me.  She had tried this one on me before, but it was too big, so I thought I was in the clear.  Darn it I've now grown enough to wear it. Okay, I'll admit, I was pretty cute and the students who came by for candy thought I was cute too.  Mommy was really pretty in a sparkly dress, but then I lost her and she left me in the room with some other lady in the same sparkly dress but with really dark hair.  But then she came back, so everything was okay again.

We didn't stay at work all day.  I kept hearing Mommy say something about having to leave early because she had a lot to do.  We did stop at Wendy's on the way home though, but Mommy wouldn't let me have any of what she got.  It sure did smell good.  Sometimes, she's just so mean.

When we got home, she left me in the house while she ran in the house and out of the house and in the house and out of the house.  I can't count but I bet it was, like, a bazillion times.  Every time she went out she had something in her hand, but when she came back in she didn't have it any more.  I tried to watch from the door, but I'm too little and couldn't see much.  I don't know where the stuff she was taking out was going, it would just, disappear.  I'm glad she left me inside because I didn't want to disappear too.

Pretty soon I got really excited though because Taylor and Megan and Toby and Mysti came over.  When I saw Toby and Mysti I didn't feel so bad about being in my dress, because they had clothes on too!  I guess maybe we're supposed to wear stuff after all.  I don't know, still seems kinda weird.

After it got dark, everyone went outside, and I had to go into my carry crate because I wanted to play but Toby and Mysti didn't so I decided to take a nap.  When I woke up, everyone was coming in and there was Daddy!  I guess Mommy must have found him outside in all the stuff she took out.  Either way I was very happy to see him.  He sure surprised me - yay!   Then we all had to get our pictures taken.  Daddy took pictures of me, and me with Toby and Mysti, then me with Mommy.  Mommy was wearing something different than before but I thought it was pretty so I gave her lots of puppy kisses.  After that everyone went home and it rained really hard.  By that time I was really tired and was ready for bed.  It was a fun night, with lots of company and then lots of stuff in the house because after Mommy went to bed, Daddy brought back in all the stuff she took out earlier.  I don't know how he knew where it was, but he did.  I'm little and don't know much, but maybe she should have just left it all by the front door, then she wouldn't have had to work so hard to get rid of it and Daddy wouldn't have worked so hard to find it and bring it back in again.

And that, if you're wondering, is what Halloween is all about.  Mommy putting clothes on me (yuck), everyone telling me how cute I am, leaving work early, not getting any of Mommy's Wendy's, watching Mommy run around, lots of company, Daddy coming home, taking lots of pictures, and going to bed.  Yep, I think I liked it and wouldn't mind doing it again.  Did you know this happens every year?
